Tanzania

Serving the Maasai People

We partner with Pastor Kelly Zaramula and a local church in Tanzania to serve the Maasai people and strengthen their community. Our partnership has helped provide a preschool and a clean-water well, and we continue to support the preschool and explore additional opportunities for ministry.

In September 2026, DMC sent its first mission team to Tanzania to serve alongside our partners and identify ways we can deepen our long-term partnership.

Dominican Republic

Partnering with Global Effect

We partner with Global Effect to bring sustainable, Christ-centered transformation to communities experiencing poverty in the Dominican Republic. In Juan Bosch, one of the country's most economically challenged communities, Global Effect's work includes clean water, counseling, education, food assistance, and community outreach.

DMC is currently developing a mission team to serve in the Dominican Republic in February or March 2027.

Haiti

Partnering with Hope United

Hope United shares the love of Christ by partnering with Haitian ministries to build sustainable, Christ-centered communities. In La Mer Frappée, the ministry has helped establish a school, church, medical clinic, and water well to address both spiritual and physical needs.

DMC helps support the community's feeding program, providing resources to help ensure children receive needed nutrition.

Democratic Republic of the Congo

Equipping Pastors to Reach Remote Communities

Through the Alabama-Emerald Coast Conference of the Global Methodist Church, we help provide bicycles and motorbikes for pastors serving communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Reliable transportation enables pastors to travel significant distances to reach isolated congregations, share the gospel, provide pastoral care, and deliver humanitarian assistance.

Helping Local Families Celebrate Christmas

The Christmas Toy Shop serves families in the Destin community by giving parents the opportunity to select Christmas gifts for their children at no cost.

Senior Care

Practical Help for Local Seniors

Senior Care connects volunteers with seniors who need assistance with everyday household tasks, errands, and other practical needs. Volunteers serve in teams of two, providing both a helping hand and a caring presence.

Food For Thought

Fighting Childhood Food Insecurity

Food For Thought helps address childhood food insecurity by providing food for students who may not have reliable access to meals outside of school. Volunteer teams pack backpacks with food that are distributed through schools to help children have something to eat over the weekend.

Helping Meet Food and Basic Needs

Harvest House serves individuals and families experiencing financial hardship in our community. Volunteers help stock the food pantry, fulfill requests for assistance, and provide needed non-perishable food items.

Each August, we support teachers and staff at Destin-area schools by providing meals during pre-planning week. It's a simple way to encourage the people who invest in our community's children throughout the school year.

Student Lunch Debt

Helping Local Students and Families

Throughout the school year, students in our area can accumulate unpaid school meal balances that create an additional burden for their families. We collect funds in August each year to help eliminate outstanding lunch debt at Destin-area schools.

Street Reach

Student Mission Trip

DMC High School Ministry partners with Street Reach Ministries for a week-long mission experience in inner-city Memphis. Students serve children and families by helping lead neighborhood Bible Clubs while learning what it means to live on mission.

Get Involved: Students can participate in the mission trip, and adults can support the team through prayer and financial assistance and by participating as chaperones.
